Mountain Ridge Farm was born from a dream to live simply, work with nature, and raise a family close to home. In 2015, with a one-year-old by my side, I began the journey of starting my own small business—driven by a desire to create something meaningful while being fully present for my children.
My father-in-law, Frank Licata, a dedicated master beekeeper in the Poconos and Endless Mountains region, has spent years caring for hundreds of hives and producing some of the purest honey in Pennsylvania. Frank generously shared with me his knowledge and recipes for making natural soaps and lotions—and from that moment, the spark of Mountain Ridge Farm was lit.
While Frank continues to manage our bees and harvest the honey, I took what he taught me and began crafting soaps, lotions, lip balms, and candles using our own beeswax and honey. I poured my heart into researching ingredients, refining formulas, designing labels, and growing our product line. I started selling at craft shows, local stores, and farmers markets across Central PA—all while raising my little ones.
In 2021, after the pandemic, we relocated to Northeastern PA to be closer to family. Frank, ready to step back from the sales side of the business, passed along his trusted store partnerships and local customer base. Thanks to his generosity and mentorship, I was able to take the reins and expand the business he had nurtured for so long.
Today, Mountain Ridge Farm is a growing, woman-run business, offering small-batch, handmade products created with care, tradition, and purpose. Each item we sell is a reflection of our values: purity, sustainability, and the beauty of family and hard work. Many of our loyal customers have been with us for nearly a decade—and we’re deeply grateful for their support.
